Divide the willful sin
Hebrews.10:26-31
26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
1). Sinning wilfully.
2) Receiving the knowledge of truth.
3) no more sacrifice for sins
4) fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation.
5) trodding under the feet the Son of God.
6) Counting the blood of covenant, an unholy thing.
7) Doing despite unto the spirit of grace. (Insulting the spirit of grace).
1) Receiving the knowledge of truth: - First we go with the second subheading, "receiving the knowledge of truth"., because first things first. What is meant by receiving the knowledge of truth? It's very simple. Knowledge of truth is nothing but, receiving the Lord Jesus as your own savior, into your heart. Experiencing God as your savior. That means, after being born again. After being saved. After receiving the salvation. After receiving Lord Jesus as your Saviour into your heart. After being completely turn away from the sin and repenting for all your sins and receiving Lord as your savior into your heart. After being baptized must be included here.
Many people think that they committed unpardonable sin even though they know about God. They did it while their conscious is strongly opposing them of doing the sin. It is a sin which is committed against your conscious and against God, but it cannot be said as a willful sin, even though you did so. Why? Because willful sin is different than a sin committed against their conscious, though every sin in this world will be committed against God himself. God meaning, God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. A small sin which is done is done against the triune God.
2) No more sacrifices for sins: - Observe one thing here. All these unpardonable sins other than the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are written only in the book of Hebrews. That means, there is a connection between these unforgivable sins and the Jewish Christians at that time. Don't think that that's not applicable for the Christians today. If that is applicable for the Christians on that day, it is very much applicable now also.
But what is it telling? It speaks of the sacrifice done by our lord and savior Jesus Christ on our behalf on that cruel cross. Before that there were the sacrifices of animals. But when the final sacrifice is completed, there cannot be any more animal sacrifices or any other sacrifices. This is the final sacrifice to be done by God himself. All the previous sacrifices are examples for what the only savior, God Jesus have to do on that cruel cross. But the animal sacrifices to God are made by Jews on the Old Testament days. But they are just examples or models for what Lord have to do on the cross.
